Spolek PELICAN is a partner of the Live2Work project, whose target group are young unemployed low-qualified persons. These people often cannot find the job, despite the growing demand of workforce and good economic situation of the majority of European countries. If they do not find employment, they very often leave the job market at all, because they cannot match demands of potential employers.

To strengthen the ability of these people to hold their new job, a new educational system enhancing the soft skills and the knowledge of law, economic and other rules of the job market in the European Union countries, should contribute. As an inevitable part of the target group, foreigners and immigrants looking for employment, whose knowledge of local job market is limited, are taken into account.

Target groups

  • Young low-qualified unemployed (16-20 years) or threatened by unemployment (unfinished high-school or vocational education)
  • Migrants from countries outside EU
  • Ethnic minorities in partner countries
  • Teachers and social workers dealing with these target groups

The project will develop materials and methods, including a guide and toolbox for trainers and social workers for the development of soft skills, to aid the unemployed and refugees through the process of change. This includes research based methodologies for positive psychology, development and adaptation of resources for building character strength, self efficacy, creative thinking and problem solving as a supplement to efforts to develop professional skills in adult education, job centers, and vocational centres in the three countries.

Expected outputs of the project

  • Development of “life projects” for psychosocial disadvantaged young adults and refugees: a theoretical manual
  • Tools for on-line toolbox with materials, exercises, lesson plans to use in training sessions with unemployed and refugees to apply different strategies to enhance self-efficacy by coaching the participant in mastering experience, identifying social role models, the surrounding social perversions and training of the participants and cognitive skills
  • Course guide describing processes relevant to running a 5 day training course
  • Piloting/in-service training courses dealing with the development, adaptation, translation, and preparation of start of a methodology based on cognitive social and behavioral theory, to ensure validity and suitability for unemployed in the 3 countries
  • On-line audio-visual learning scenarios with subtitles in DK, CZ and PT that can serve as appetizers, supplement to courses, and do it yourself materials. The videos will mostly contain exemplary lessons to use in the training courses

MOODLE courses and learning platform on website – an open source multi modal on-line courses using Moodle as a platform, connected with the website

The aim of the project is to create online Moodle courses for successful training of low skilled young adults in the age group 18-30, including refugees and migrants, to ensure they successfully enter and stay in jobs, and integrating these people into society.
